Dust Doctor: Capturing dust at its source

Ineffective dust control systems most likely have poorly applied dust capture hoods. A poor capture hood design can make an otherwise well-designed system fall far short of your expectations. Here are some typical problems in controlling dust from various types of production equipment and advice on how you can solve them.

Some dust control systems just don't operate right. And plant operators and engineers don't always understand or accept that each system component is completely dependent on the others. One component can't compensate for another's shortcomings. Exhausting large quantities of air to compensate for poorly designed dust capture hoods will waste energy, require excess amounts of makeup air, and, possibly, pull your valuable process powders into the dust control system.
