A thermoplastic resin producer installs an automated packaging system to reduce labor costs and improve packaging efficiency.Albis (UK) Ltd., a subsidiary of ALBIS PLASTIC GmbH, operates a thermoplastic resin distribution and compounding facility in Knutsford, Cheshire, England. The company operates five compounding lines and produces a wide range of highly specialized plastic pellets for applications in the automotive, construction, medical, furniture, packaging, and other industries. In the past, an operator at the end of each compounding line manually bagged the pellets and then stacked each bag on a pallet. However, over time the company found the manual bagging and palletizing operation to be costly and inefficient. To improve the operators’ safety and well-being and the operation’s efficiency and ergonomics, the company decided to automate the bagging and palletizing process for all five lines.
